THE EXISTENCE OF GOD
Man's Knowledge Vs. The Existence of God
There’s a very profound ignorance that is prevalent in our world today. This ignorance is the assertion that God does not exist, and the world willingly accepts this assertion from intellectual people who, though very intelligent, do not possess all knowledge. In order to contend against this assertion, the knowledge of man must be challenged before making a rational conclusion about the existence of God.
Man's knowledge has been accumulating from the beginning of time until now. Over time man has built knowledge upon the knowledge of his predecessors, until he knows more today than he's ever known before. In ages past, man’s greatest technology was the ability to make fire from two sticks, and his greatest invention was a simple wheel. In ages past, who would have thought that man would fly through the air in an airplane, or stand upon the face of the moon? Who could have imagined a heart transplant or dreamt of television, radio, automobiles, trains, computers, or cell phones? In ages past, when man’s greatest weapons were sticks and stones, who could have conceived the devastation of the Atomic Bomb, or of nuclear war? This accumulated knowledge represents the achievements of the greatest minds of the history of the world. Minds that have amassed great knowledge from enormous volumes of literature and information, amazing scientific discoveries, wondrous works in medicine, and mind-boggling achievements in technology that surpass the imagination. These are the kinds of things man has figured out; these are the facts; this is what he truly knows.
Though man has acquired a great deal of knowledge, elusive to him are the secrets of the universe, science, technology, medicine, and intelligence far beyond his understanding. He knows many things about the smallest building blocks of matter and atomic structure, but still doesn’t know what force holds them all together. He knows many things about the human body, unraveling some of the secrets of DNA, but yet, he still can't understand the origin of life. He reaches further and further out into the universe, and into space, but finds its outer limits more and more unreachable.
Because of his limited knowledge, man imagines the things he wants to believe, without evidence or proof. His speculations are fabricated into fallible theories including theories about the origins of the universe and of life. Sadly, these speculations are now propagated as fact in our public schools, and institutions of higher education. They have infiltrated the media, and over time, our world. It would seem, if people are lied to long enough, eventually they’ll believe a theory is a fact. Man is using his limited knowledge to convince young absorbing minds misconceptions about the origins of the universe and life. These young un-expecting victims are unaware that these intellectuals use their theories and speculations for their own gain and agenda. These are the kinds of things that man in all his educated and intellectual glory does not know.
If man is perplexed by the secrets of the universe, how can he begin to imagine the unseen realm? It is a mystery that eludes his understanding. These are the supernatural things that defy nature, things like miracles and life changing events. Things that truly happen, but man can't understand or explain how or why. These are the spiritual things such as angels and demons, the influential powers of good and evil, and the eternal dominions of heaven and hell. Not only are these the things that man doesn't know, these are the things that he can't believe or comprehend.
Before anyone comes to any conclusion about the existence of God, it would be wise for them to consider the following facts. Fact number one, though man has acquired great knowledge, his knowledge is very limited. Fact number two, man does not know the secrets of the universe. Fact number three, man can't know, believe, or comprehend the unseen realm. Now that these facts have been established, we can come to a logical conclusion. If man’s knowledge is limited; if he doesn't possess all knowledge, how can he know that God doesn't exist? If man doesn’t know everything, how can he possibly know that God doesn't exist somewhere outside his limited knowledge? There are unfathomable and far-reaching things man does not know, and just maybe God is one of them. This is what man doesn't have an answer for. Now if man doesn't have the answer for this, why does he continue to give answers, and why do people continue to listen to him? This continues because the Bible says man is willingly ignorant, because by nature he doesn't want to believe there is a God, for if he believes there is a God he must believe there is a day of reckoning. This reckoning or condemnation is addressed in the Holy Bible, John 3:19-20, “And this is the condemnation, that light has come into the world, but men love darkness more than light, because their deeds were evil. For everyone doing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed.”
Selected Bible verses in 1 Corinthians chapters 1 and 2, read. (1:20) So where does this leave the philosophers, the scholars, and the world’s brilliant debaters? God has made the wisdom of this world look foolish. (1:25) This foolish plan of God is wiser than the wisest of human plans… (1:29) As a result, no one can ever boast in the presence of God. (2:7) No, the wisdom we speak of is the mystery of God...(2:10) But it was to us that God revealed these things by His Spirit…(2:12) And we have received God’s Spirit, not the world’s spirit, so we can know the wonderful things God has freely given us. (2:13) When we tell you these things, we do not use words that come from human wisdom. Instead, we speak words given to us by the Spirit, using the Spirit’s words to explain spiritual truths. (2:14) But people who aren’t spiritual can’t receive these truths from God’s Spirit. It all sounds foolish to them and they can’t understand it, for only those who are spiritual can understand what the Spirit means. (2:16) For who can know the Lord’s thoughts? Who knows enough to teach Him? But we understand these things, because we have the mind of Christ.
Only the true Christian is able to know and comprehend the spiritual things that are beyond the knowledge of the natural man. Only the true Christian possesses the gifts of faith and knowledge that are given freely by the indwelling Holy Spirit of God.
Anyone that is skeptical about the existence of God needs to consider this, if God really does exist, then the Holy Bible is true, and if the Holy Bible is true, then there really is a literal heaven and a literal hell. If anyone gets anything right in this life, it better be this, because when death comes, it’s final, there’s no turning back, there’s no more chances, the decision’s made, and when it’s made it’s forever. Psalms 14:1 “The fool has said in his heart, there is no God.”
